GETTING STARTED WITH HOVERSNAP HoverSnap is a small utility program that will greatly simplify your life during this course. HoverSnap allows you to copy an image right off the screen and save it to your hard drive. You can download HoverSnap for free at www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm. DOWNLOAD HOVERSNAP At www.HoverDesk.net, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Freeware button. Scroll down to HoverSnap 08... and click on DOWNLOAD HoverSnap v0.8 beta (local) Up pops a File Download box. Click the Save button. Save where you can later find it. I saved my HoverSnap download in a folder called Downloads under My Documents. Do NOT download HoverSnap to your Desktop! INSTALL HOVERSNAP To install HoverSnap, double-click on the HoverSnap_v08.zip file that you just downloaded. Then click on the Files menu to extract the HoverSnap files from the zip file. Click on the Extract All option... And up pops the Extraction Wizard. Click the Next button. Browse for a folder where you want HoverSnap to be put. I put HoverSnap in my Downloads folder. Do NOT put HoverSnap on your Desktop! Click the Finish button. Up pops a window showing the folder where your HoverSnap files are located. Double-click on this HoverSnapv08 folder and open it. Right click on the HoverSnap.exe file. Click Send To and then click Desktop (create shortcut) SETUP HOVERSNAP Look on your Desktop for the HoverSnap camera icon. Click on the camera icon. Up pops the HoverSnap setup window. Click the Browse button for a folder in which to put your HoverSnap captures. I put my captures in My Pictures under My Documents. Change the parameters in the HoverSnap control panel: Select GIF under Snapshot Format Delete Capture in Filename box Check Auto-Generate filename on new capture Check Play sound when done Now click the Hide button. This keeps HoverSnap resident in memory till you turn off your computer, but the window stays hidden from view. If you restart your computer, and you want to use HoverSnap, click the HoverSnap shortcut on the Desktop to activate it again. If HoverSnap is resident in memory, you will see its camera icon in the lower right corner of your screen. If you click this icon, the control panel for HoverSnap becomes visible.
